Pet-Friendly Activities Near Our Woodland Cottages Communities

If you share your home with a dog or cat, you already know that a good day often starts with getting outside together. Woodland Cottages has pet-friendly communities in five different Texas locations, each designed for easy living with a pet. Whether you enjoy wandering shaded trails together, a quiet stretch of waterfront, or your dog needs proper exercise and wants to burn energy in an off-leash dog park, there’s something close to home for you and your pet.

Fredericksburg: Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park

Right in Fredericksburg, Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park is a 330-acre green space with nature trails, Live Oak Creek, and a dedicated five-acre dog park just inside the grounds. The dog park has separate areas for large and small dogs, covered seating, water stations, and dog bowls, so you can settle in for a while and chat up other visitors while your pups play together. It’s about a mile from our Fredericksburg cottages and free to enter, which makes it an easy go-to on any afternoon.

Belton: Heritage Dog Park

Heritage Park is Belton’s largest public park, spanning across 155 acres. It includes a dedicated dog park with agility courses, water stations, a pavilion, and benches for owners to watch their furry friend play and explore. If your pet prefers a calmer outing, leashed dogs are also welcome on the trails throughout the park. It’s a well-maintained spot with plenty of shade, which counts for a lot during a Texas summer. Best of all? Our Belton community is less than a 10 minute drive away on River Fair Blvd.

College Station: Lick Creek Park

Lick Creek Park is a 523-acre natural area with five miles of hiking and biking trails through the native Texas landscape. Leashed dogs are welcome throughout, and the Raccoon Run Trail allows off-leash access for dogs that respond reliably to voice commands. The paths are mostly shaded, making it a good option year-round. It’s a short drive from our College Station cottages on Arnold Rd.

Westover Hills: Culebra Creek Park

Culebra Creek Park is just a few minutes from our Westover Hills community on Westwood Loop, and at roughly 145 acres, it gives you plenty of room to enjoy the view with your dog. The park has paved walking trails, open multipurpose fields, and wooded sections along the creek, making it a great spot for a casual morning stroll or even a longer outing with your pet.

Sherman: Fairview Park

Fairview Park is Sherman’s most popular public park, and it’s a solid everyday option for getting outside with your dog. It has 2.5 miles of paved walking trails, plenty of green space, and a dedicated off-leash dog park with separate fenced areas for large and small dogs, agility equipment, benches, and water stations. It’s right on W. Taylor St, close to our upcoming Sherman community, and free to enter any day of the week.

Your Pet Is Welcome at Home, Too

Every one of our communities is pet-friendly, and select cottage homes include fenced backyards that give your pet their own outdoor space right at home.
